Counterparts Band Release New Single Album, “Whispers of Your Death”
Counterparts Band, a Canadian hardcore punk unit, have released their latest single, Whispers Of Your Death. The new single will appear on their upcoming album, A Eulogy For Those Still Here via Pure Noise Records. This single is the second preview for the new album after the lead single, Unwavering Vow.
After improving their sound, Counterparts featured new songs with endlessly improving riffs and more extreme drumming. Regarding this new song, vocalist Brendan Murphy also discussed the meaning behind this new Counterparts song.
“I feel like anyone who’s been in the band/me pre-pandemic knew this was coming, but this song is about my cat Kuma. My ex and I saved him less than two years ago and he’s the only reason I survived. long enough to even set this record. Shortly after he was rescued, we developed a special bond and now I can’t imagine my life without him,” said the vocalist.
“Unfortunately, in the first few months we had him, he became very ill and almost died from complications of blood parasites when he tested positive for FIV. Nobody believed he would make it… but luckily he is still here with us and is doing well at the moment.”
For Brendan Murphy, fathering his cat was the most important thing he had ever done in his life, he was even proud of it. Brendan admits that he loves him more than anything in the world. While his song with the band is a tribute he gives to Kuma, for literally giving him a reason to live.
Single Whispers Of Your Death is also equipped with a music video that shows Kuma sitting on the sofa and next to the speaker. The loud song was played not long after.

The recording of the new album finds Counterparts entering a deep sense of uncertainty and fear and pushing their deep voice to greater extremes to make their most definitive statement.
In early June, Counterparts officially distributed the first single for the album. The single is titled Unwavering Vow. The song opens with a booming drum beat with a complicated riff. This heart-fluttering song offers a heart-stopping introduction to the album A Eulogy For Those Still Here.
After two minutes of intense aggression, the song pauses for a haunting atmosphere. After that, it comes back to one of the most devastating breakdowns the band has ever written.

Since forming in 2007, Counterparts, consisting of vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarists Alex Re and Jesse Doreen, bassist Tyler Williams, and drummer Kyle Brownlee, have gone from being an “underdog” band to a globetrotting powerhouse in the aggressive music scene. “All of these things that I have are still a big part of my life, but someday they won’t, and I don’t want to focus on that rather than enjoying the time I have with them. Maybe I said goodbye first but I think it’s important to say goodbye while I can,” said Brendan Murphy.
