You Me At Six Release New Single “Truth Decay”, a New Album Release Soon

You Me At Six, a British rock unit has officially announced details for their upcoming new studio album, Truth Decay. His new studio album will be released on January 27, 2023, through Rise Records.

The new album was recorded at Black Rock Studios in Santorini, Greece with producer Dan Austin, who had previously worked with the band on VI and SUCKAPUNCH. The album Truth Decay is a retrospective album for You Me at Six. Musically, this album is the sound of a band celebrating the scene they’re working on by helping each other out, while at the same time defining where they’re headed next musically.

Lyrically, Truth Decay is a raw and honest portrayal of trying to find the best moments in life. They compactly raise bad exploratory themes about growing up, relationships, overcoming insecurities, and realizing self-worth.

“This album is generally a band that did all the things we think a good band would do and just embellished it and fleshed out those ideas and just tried to do a retrospective, classic YMAS but in 2022 and give it a new lease on life,” said vocalist Josh Franceschi.

“For us, we saw the people around us, our peers, and some new blood coming through emo rock music again and we thought ‘we know how to do that and we want the world to know how we do it,” he continued on behalf of You. Me At Six.

Along with the announcement, the band shared their new single Mixed Emotions (I Didn’t Know How To Tell You What I Was Going Through). The new single is an open letter from Josh Franceschi to his bandmates about mental health and how the group has communicated differently over the years.

You Me At Six officially ended their North American tour on October 20, 2022, by supporting Japanese rockers ONE OK ROCK with an instantly sold-out show in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Last year, says Josh Franceschi, the single SUCKAPUNCH saw the band trying a lot of different things and opening a few different doors. He added that the goal of Truth Decay was to create something that resonated more with them while feeling like we really know who You Me At Six is.

He continued: “The biggest stadium rock band in the country is Muse. The biggest indie band in Indonesia is Foals. The biggest metalcore band is Architects. All of those bands have their flags on the ground and their own identity. I want us to be an emo band.”

The frontman explained how his previous single, Deep Cuts, was the first song written for the record and set the lyrical track for Truth Decay. “If I had written another song about breakups or male/female relationships from my point of view, the whole record would be very different,” says Franceschi.

“But Deep Cuts was written about people I love who don’t love or value themselves the way I believe they should be loved and valued. It gave me a very different space to write,” he continues.

“Because of everything we’ve been through over the last few years, this is an emotionally complex record. It’s important for me to be honest about what I see around me. I am driven to write about things that feel profound,” he continued.

You Me at Six is a rock band from Weybridge, Surrey, England. The band consists of vocalist Josh Franceschi, guitarists Max Helyer and Chris Miller, bassist Matt Barnes, and drummer Daniel Flint. The band was formed in 2004, which derives its name from the abbreviation of the group that makes plans Friday nights after concerts. The band has released seven studio albums and one live album. The group achieved initial success in 2008 with the release of their debut album, Take Off Your Colors, which included the singles Save It for the Bedroom, Finders Keepers, and Kiss and Tell.
