In my personal opinion, the sound drive produced by Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 tends to be smooth, with a warm character. When used as a booster in the “front” of the amp (guitar-effect-input amp), the amp can still scream but with dynamics that remain responsive like natural tube distortion, with a warmth that stays “there”. You could say this effect boosts the signal smoother than the TS9.

This legendary effect is indeed more flexible to play various genres, due to its warm & smooth characters. It turns out that the nickname the Holy Grail of Overdrive is not just any nickname given by just anyone.
