Djo Release New Single, FIGURE YOU OUT

Djo – Joe Keery released a single under the moniker Djo with the title Figure You Out. This song is the start of the second album DECIDE which was just released last September 16.

DECIDE’s album is described by Djo as an oral history of his twenties. He tried not to change anything in himself on this album. In making this album, Joe listened to many songs from Kendrick Lamar because he thought his work was very good with a focus on specific personal lyrics. So this makes his work stronger even though Djo has to show his bad side but he also tries to accept it at the same time.

Previously, at the end of 2020 Djo released a single entitled Keep Your Head Up. And this year, Joe plays Steve Harrington in the Netflix series Stranger Things.

Often times Djo surprises his fans with his stage persona. Because according to him, Djo’s stage persona was created as a way to separate music from Steve Harrington’s character in Stranger Things, which many people are familiar with.

Joseph David Keery, born in Massachusetts on April 24, 1992, is an American actor and musician. He is best known for playing Steve Harrington in the science fiction series Stranger Things from 2016 to the present. He also starred in the comedy film Free Guy in 2021.

Joe grew up in Newburyport and attended River Valley Charter School, a local Montessori primary and secondary school, and Newburyport High School. When he was younger, he participated in the Theater in the Open, a performing arts camp in Maudslay State Park. But eventually, Joe started acting while in high school at the insistence of his older sister. Joe Keery continued his studies at The Theater School at DePaul University and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.

Prior to Djo’s solo project, Joe Keery was part of the Chicago-based rock band Post Animal but split in 2019 due to acting commitments. Joe is featured on Post Animal’s second Album, When I Think Of You In A Castle, which was released in April 2018 as guitar and vocals.

On July 19, 2019, Joe as Djo released his own single Roddy. Then, Djo released his second single again on August 9, 2019, with the title Chateau (Feel Alright).

It didn’t stop there, on September 13, 2019, Joe then released his debut album as Djo, with the title Twenty-Twenty. In positive reviews of the album, NME cited Djo as a very high-caliber musician who dabbled in the inventive and curvy psychedelic genre of music that gently twists his listeners and constantly changes shape around them. In that review, Djo’s music was compared with the music of Tame Impala and Ariel Pink.
