Billy Idol New Album EP The Cage and New Single “CAGE”

Billy Idol New Album – Billy Idol has announced his latest EP entitled The Cage. Along with the announcement of this latest EP, Billy Idol also released his new song with the same title, Cage. The singer-songwriter will release the four-song collection on September 23, 2022, via Dark Horse.

This EP The Cage will follow the previous EP, The Roadside, which came out in 2021. In a statement, Billy Idol explained his upcoming project in a statement, “It’s the last EP, we’re kind of warming up to this. This EP is coming to you more. Load more guitars. And it was a lot of fun.”

“We were pretty excited about the fact that we hadn’t played for a few years, and suddenly we exploded on stage, and that woke us up to what the next EP would be like: that it might be a little more Sturm und Drang, a little bit more coming to you guys, a little more rock ‘n’ roll, a little more fuck!”

He added, “Well, a little fuck you. The bottom line is we are very happy to do it.”

The Cage EP itself is reportedly a recording of a mini album that sounds louder than Billy Idol’s previous release, The Roadside. Billy Idol guitarist, Steve Stevens, explained that this mini album is more “heavy” and this new EP is the flip side of the previous EP which is more refined. They wanted the EP to be more personal and intimate in the first round, but in reality, this EP is bigger and heavier, which shows the other side of the coin.

Billy Idol is scheduled to tour with Journey during the first half of this year. But a chronic sinus infection—which required surgery—forced her to withdraw from the trip. He underwent months of recovery as his infection was resistant to antibiotics, but he is reported to have made a full recovery and is back on the road.

In September 2021, Billy Idol launched an EP titled The Roadside. This EP is Billy Idol’s first release on George Harrison’s Dark Horse Records—The Beatles’ guitarist. The EP The Roadside is Billy Idol’s first release of new material since the album Kings & Queens of the Underground (2014). This mini album is produced by Butch Walker whose all-tracklist features longtime Idol collaborator, guitarist Steve Stevens.

The lead single, Bitter Taste, refers to Billy Idol’s 1990 motorcycle accident, which nearly cost him his leg. Idol told American Songwriter: “I’ve never really written a song that reflects back on a motorcycle accident because I couldn’t wait for it 20 years later, and now it’s 31. I don’t know about anyone else except for me personally, you guys should let things be salty, and you never know how long the pregnancy will last. Motorcycle accidents are something I’ve had 30 years to think about.”

The songs that appear on The Roadside EP include Rita Hayworth, Bitter Taste, U Don’t Have to Kiss Me Like That, and Baby Put Your Clothes Back On.

Billy Idol is the owner of the real name William Michael Albert Broad (born November 30, 1955). He is known professionally as an English-American singer and songwriter. He first achieved fame in the 1970s emerging from the London punk rock scene as the lead singer of the band Generation X. Subsequently, he embarked on a solo career which resulted in international acclaim and established Idol as the lead artist during the MTV-driven “Second British Invasion”. in the United States.

Idol began his musical career in late 1976 as a guitarist in the punk rock band Chelsea. However, he soon left the group. With former bandmate Tony James, Idol formed Generation X. In 1981, Idol moved to New York City to pursue his solo career in collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens. His debut studio album, Billy Idol (1982), was a commercial success. With the music videos for the singles Dancing with Myself and White Wedding, Billy Idol soon became a staple of the newly founded MTV.

The name “Billy Idol” was inspired by a school teacher’s description of him as “idle”.
