New Years Day Band Release New Single Album “Hurts Like Hell”
New Years Day Band – recently released their newest single, Hurts Like Hell. This single is their first new song after three years without releasing any material. The new single New Years Day is also released with the official music video directed by Robyn August—who has worked with Nothing More, Snoop Dogg, and Pitbull.
New Years Day frontman Ash Costello said, “Hurts Like Hell may seem like a song about relationships on the surface; in a way, it is.”
“On the one hand, it is, I think. As I struggled to navigate how to continue pursuing my passion during the pandemic, I realized that chaos was where I thrived. I will stare down any obstacle, even if I look like a lunatic to bow to it.”
“Eleanor Roosevelt said, ‘We all know people who are so afraid of pain that they shut themselves off […] and shrink until life is but a living death.’ Turning pain into progress and tragedy into victory is a very satisfying victory. As the saying goes: ‘Nothing of value comes easy.’ That’s what Pain Like Hell means to me. This song is an acceptance and celebration of my relationship with chaos.”
New Years Day last released an album titled Unbreakable which was released in April 2019. The album received critical acclaim. The band enlisted producers Mitchell Marlow—who had handled All That Remains and In This Moment—and Scott Stevens to create an album that combined heavy rock with a pop sensibility.
In January 2020, New Years Day released Through The Years, a limited edition box set featuring all seven New Years Day albums on special color vinyl, a Blu-ray of their beloved music video, and a four-page picture book. Never-before-seen photos of Ash and New Years Day from humble beginnings. The photos were handpicked and captions were handwritten by Ash Costello.

New Years Day has shared their fourth full album, Unbreakable, which was released on April 26, 2019 via Red Music. The album Unbreakable will be a follow-up to the brand’s 2015 album, Malevolence. Along with the announcement of his fourth album that time, New Years Day shared a new music video for the single Shut Up, a continuation of the single Skeletons which was released in 2018.
Vocalist Ash Costello then revealed, “Shut Up was written in a day, which didn’t just happen. I was going through some really tough personal stuff, and I was just, ‘Don’t tell me what I want, shut up and give it to me!'”
New Years Day Band is a rock band formed in Anaheim, California, the United States in 2005. After building a reputation strictly through promotions on the social networking site MySpace, the band released their debut self-titled EP in 2006 and their first full-length album. , My Dear, in 2007. Six years after their initial debut, Victim to Villain was finally released as a second album, followed by their self-titled third album, Malevolence, in 2015. Malevolence’s album peaked at No. 45 on the Billboard 200, the band’s highest charting so far.
The band consists of Ash Costello (lead vocals), Nikki Misery (guitar), Brandon Wolfe (bass), Jeremy Valentyne (guitar, backing vocals), and Tommy Rockoff (drums).
