100 Gecs Share Surprise Ep, Snake Eyes for Their New Album 1000 Gecs
100 gecs have shared a surprise EP titled Snake Eyes and announced their new album, 10,000 gecs which is planned to be released on March 17, 2023.
Hyper pop duo Dylan Brady and Laura Les also known as 100 gecs have returned after two releases of their debut LP 1000 gecs. The Los Angeles-based hyper pop group have announced the release of their second album through Dog Show Records and Atlantic Records.
The 10,000 gecs album project will contain their previously released flagship singles such as the single mememe and Doritos & Fritos. Apart from presenting old singles, 100 gecs will also present new works.
100 gecs is actually not a new name in the music industry. The American hyper pop duo formed in 2015 consists of Dylan Brady and Laura Les. They self-released their debut album titled 1,000 gecs in 2019 and was critically acclaimed.
Their music is known for being chaotic because of the mix of various genres, but still interesting to listen to. In fact, the 100 gecs stretcher genre has been described as an example of the hyper pop genre of the 2010s.
Long before the release of the 1,000 gecs album, Brady and Les for the first time collaborated in producing music until self-released their first EP titled 100 gecs on July 12, 2016. The origin of the name 100 gecs is often debated because Brady and Les provide varied and contradictory explanations in every interview.
Despite planning to record more music, 100 gecs couldn’t find enough time until they broke out. After that collaboration, Brady and Les continued to compose songs and released their debut album, 1,000 gecs on May 31, 2019 to positive reviews.
Since releasing its debut album, 100 gecs helped transform hyper pop from an underground subgenre into a generational sound. Will Pritchard of The Independent stated that the album takes the genre to its most extreme and yet most interesting conclusion.
Success after success succeeded in achieving 100 gecs. In September 2019, it was announced that 100 gecs were supporting Brockhampton on Your Heavens Tour. 100 gecs also headlined six additional shows of their own in various cities during the tour.
The duo appeared on the November issue of Adult Swim FishCenter Live web series performing 800db Cloud and Stupid Horse against an aquarium green screen backdrop. 100 gecs was even named “Artist You Need to Know” by Rolling Stone in 2019.
Music critics also say that 1,000 gecs is one of the best albums of 2019 and is rated as the best album of 2019 by several well-known magazines such as Crack Magazine, Noisey, Paper, Pitchfork, and Stereogum.
Brady says the 100 gecs style is influenced by Breathe Carolina, John Zorn, and I See Stars. Les later called their musical process improvised and said that 100 gecs were trying to have fun writing the songs they wanted to release.
The whole idea of genre labeling doesn’t really matter to 100 gecs. Les even got interested in making music as a teenager when he got his first guitar. He revealed that he always wanted to be a songwriter and loves anything with catchy melodies.
Following the success of 100 gecs, the pine tree depicted on the album cover of 1000 gecs and the remix album Tree of Clues became popular with his fans.

After not releasing any work for quite a while, on April 12 2022 100 gecs released another single with the title Doritos & Fritos along with the accompanying visualizer. The song carries more characteristics of alt-rock than hyperpop.
The music video for the song Doritos & Fritos was released on May 16, 2022 featuring 100 gecs flying around the desert while the news reports on their actions. Check out the music video below.
In 2022, 100 gecs finished their headlining world tour. They kicked off their European tour with a concert in Vega, Copenhagen on 11 August 2022 and concluded it at SWG3 in Glasgow on 5 September.
Apart from touring, 100 gecs also had the opportunity to take part in various well-known music festivals such as Coachella, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Primavera Sound, and Lollapalooza.
This is enough proof that their music doesn’t only reach Gen-Z ears, but also garners the respect of Alternative legends. 100 gecs was even voted in to support acts like Nine Inch Nails and My Chemical Romance.
