Acapella music is a type of music that is generally performed in groups or solo without any musical accompaniment. Everyone who performs acapella will play a type of sound that resembles a musical instrument and the sound produced by that person is issued from the mouth, be it rhythm, bass, drums, percussion, solo vocals, and others. Acapella itself can be said to be unique, because the sound produced by each person must be different, from one to another.

Acapella Music History
Initially, acapella music was often played by immigrants from the African continent who often sang at party celebrations in rural tribes. Difficult economic conditions make them unable to buy musical instruments. However, this condition is not a limitation, because of the limitations that finally made them decide to imitate the sound of a musical instrument commonly used by a Caucasian choir in a church.
Acapella music also developed and circulated slowly throughout the world, including to the plains of Europe. However, at that time, Caucasians thought that acapella music was just vocal singing without the use of musical instruments. Whereas for Africans themselves, acapella is a technique of dividing voices (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) plus imitating the sound of musical instruments.
Acapella music first appeared in Italy around the 15th century. In the mid-1600s, this music was originally used to characterize works that were already made in the form of Renaissance-era polyphony. At that time, acapella music was widely performed in churches. This type of music only gained its popularity in the early 20th century in society with the emergence of vocal groups calling themselves “barbershop quartet”. These groups would sing beautiful four-part harmonies and usually wear matching suits for their performances, which was a trend around the 1930s.
In its development, in the 1960s and 1970s, several musical groups such as The Persuasion and The Manhattan Transfer emerged. These two bands perform a lot of pop songs in an acapella style.
