The CHATS with New Single “I’ve Been Drunk In Every Pub In Brisbane”
The Chats, the punk rock unit from Australia, has shared its latest single with a long title: I’ve Been Drunk In Every Pub In Brisbane. This single was released ahead of the release of their second album Get Fucked on August 19, 2022.
The new album will feature the singles they have previously released such as 6L GTR and Struck By Lightning. The recording of the new album was released through their own label, Bargain Bin Records.
In addition, The Chats has also announced that they will hold a number of massive stadium shows that will also support the appearance of Guns N ‘Roses. The Chats themselves will join the rock legend from the United States for eight big shows this winter—which will be summer in the Southern Hemisphere later this year.
The Chats who support Guns N ‘Roses will start their tour on 18 November 2022 in Perth and will end in Auckland on 10 December 2022. This is where The Chats’ new album, Get Fucked, comes into play. They will be performing new songs from the album, including the single I’ve Been Drunk In Every Pub In Brisbane.
The Chats also shared a music video along with the announcement of the new single. This music video was directed and edited directly by Rick Sicko, featuring three members of The Chats having fun in various corners of the city. This music video reminds us of the glory of similar music videos from punk bands in the 1990s. Regarding his new single and music video, vocalist Eamon Sandwith said, “Brisbane is a little hotter than other parts of the country. So this is one of those places where it’s more acceptable to start drinking early. I think there will be 900 or so pubs you should visit, and I’ve actually been to most of them, but if you go through all of them it can be hard to remember which one you’re going to. been to, and which you haven’t, especially if you guys are really upset.”
The new full-length album is a blazing blitz, hyper-adrenalization of punk heaven featuring 13 all-killer-no-filler tracks. The 13 songs on the new album are so electrifying that they perfectly capture the band’s explosive energy. The album temporarily tackles some of the beef that’s very relatable from surfer-dude racism to horrific impecunity.
This album feels like a classic high-speed punk-rock party album that it’s as if they won’t be recording anymore. This album is like the Ramones records in the beginning or some MDC debut material in the past. The songs from The Chats on this album will also invite everyone to have fun all weekend long.

In March, The Chats shared their latest single of 2022, Struck By Lightning. The new single was released just before they left for the UK for a tour there which started at the end of March.
Vocalist and bassist Eamon Sandwith said, “Struck By Lightning came up while we were jamming. I was playing drums, and I just started playing this little pattern like, ‘Struck-by – LIGHT- NIN’!” I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s going to work,’ so I went home and wrote this song about being struck by lightning, how you guys feel, and what’s going to happen.”
“People can’t grow their hair back and it crumbles. It’s weird, especially the issue without eyebrows. That would be really scary! I really hope this doesn’t happen to me, now that I’ve written a song about it.”

To coincide with the release of the single, The Chats have launched their new line-up. Josh Hardy has now officially joined as a guitarist. “New recruit, Josh, he’s totally insane!” said Eamon enthusiastically.
“He has been our best friend for many years. His band, The Unknowns, was the first band of our age on the Sunny Coast before we even formed The Chats. In the early days, they were a rockabilly band, and he had a quiff. He combed his hair back and forth, and we just thought he was the coolest guy ever,” said Eamon.
“After our longtime guitarist Pricey left, Matt [Boggis, drummer] and I had conversations like, ‘If we can’t get Josh, we probably won’t continue.’ Luckily, he wanted to join, and we went straight to it, writing songs and stuff. We were like, this isn’t real – that’s great!” he continued.
