Taylor Hawkins Tribute – A tribute concert to the late Taylor Hawkins, drummer for rock band Foo Fighters, was held recently. The final line-up was announced earlier for the tribute concert in Los Angeles, United States.

Taylor Hawkins, who had been the drummer for the Foo Fighters since 1997, died in Bogotá, Colombia, on March 25, 2022. He died at the age of 50 years. On September 3, 2022, together with the drummer’s family, the Foo Fighters celebrated Taylor Hawkins’ memory and music with a special six-hour show in London. The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert will then take over the LA Kia Forum on September 27, 2022.

In the days leading up to the show, a number of new musicians were added such as Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe, Danny Carey from Tools, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Justin Hawkins from The Darkness, Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless, and Kesha.

The California show will also feature Alanis Morissette and Miley Cyrus, plus Queen and Red Hot Chili Peppers members Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Pink, and Nandi Bushell.

The Los Angeles show for Taylor Hawkins will be streamed live globally on streaming service Paramount in the United States and via MTV’s YouTube channel worldwide.

A statement about the Taylor Hawkins Tribute show on the Foo Fighters website read: “As one of the most respected and loved figures in modern music, Taylor Hawkins’ monolithic talent and magnetic personality have endeared him to millions of fans, peers, friends, and fellow music legends around the world. Millions mourned his untimely death on March 25, with passionate and heartfelt tributes coming from the fans and musician Taylor Hawkins idolized.”

“The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will bring together some of those artists, the Hawkins family, and of course the Foo Fighters brothers to celebrate Taylor’s memories and legacy as a global rock icon—his bandmates and inspiration playing the songs he loves. with, and the people he brings to life,” the Foo Fighters statement continued.

The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in London features a six-hour all-star cast, from Liam Gallagher to Mark Ronson, Josh Homme, to Brian Johnson of AC/DC, and commemorates the late Foo Fighters drummer.

Dave Grohl himself said, “Putting all of this together over the past three months, we’ve met some truly amazing people.”

On September 27, 2022, the Foo Fighters and a number of friends and collaborators celebrated the late drummer Taylor Hawkins in Los Angeles with the second of two special tribute concerts. After reminiscing about Taylor Hawkins’ memory and music with a special six-hour show in London earlier this September, The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert took over the LA Kia Forum on Tuesday night, with a 53-track setlist!

The Taylor Hawkins Tribute gig that night began with an acoustic performance of Hallelujah by Grohl’s daughter, Violet, featuring Alain Johannes. That was followed by a short set from the surviving Foo Fighters, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Joan Jett, who performed the latter’s two biggest hits from the 1980s.

Later on the show, Miley Cyrus teamed up with the Foo Fighters and Def Leppard for an expansive version of Def Leppard’s 1983 hit, Photograph, while Justin Hawkins took the stage with Foo Fighters drummer side project, The Coattail Riders, to perform a four-song set.

In addition, Pink joined Foo Fighters and Queen to perform a lively cover of Somebody To Love—a song that Taylor Hawkins has covered himself for years. Elsewhere, he sang with Nancy Wilson of Heart for their song Barracuda before joining the Foo Fighters to sing The Pretender during their main set at the end of the show.

During the closing set, the Foo Fighters also welcomed Dave Chapelle onto the stage to cover Radiohead’s hit song Creep, which they previously covered with Hawkins at their big show at Madison Square Garden in New York City last summer.

The Taylor Hawkins tribute concert on September 3, 2022, was, as Dave Grohl promised, a very big night for a very big crowd. The tribute concert began with the first public appearance—since Taylor Hawkins died in March—by the surviving members of the Foo Fighters.
