Schecter Blackjack ATX Solo-II Review – The LP (Les Paul) shaped guitar is one of the legendary guitar forms that exist in this world, not only because of the shape that has existed since the 50s but also because of the characteristic sound produced by the guitar shape. No wonder the guitar manufacturer Schecter also issued a series with this form; Blackjack ATX solo-ii series. With a few modifications, Schecter has succeeded in changing the shape of the classic LP to be more “modern” and also more “fierce” both in terms of appearance and sound.
Although the shape is slightly different from the classic LP model, this guitar still makes us remember the shape but with a darker feel. From the color and finishing, it is undeniable that this guitar is intended for rock/metal guitarists. Coupled with an inlay that glows in the dark.
For playability, this guitar has a neck that is quite thin. Slightly beyond our expectations when looking at the shape of the LP, with a thin neck and additional “heel” behind the joint between the neck and body, giving us even more comfortable playability.
Although Seymour Duncan Blackout makes this guitar have an output equivalent to EMG’s active pickups, but with a brighter character, which makes the user sound well articulated and also makes it easier to penetrate noisy musical compositions.
The use of mahogany in the body is the biggest contributor to getting a beefy (lower-mid) sound typical of an LP guitar, the use of an ebony neck with a set neck construction gives the user a beefy but clear sound without worrying about the sound becoming muddy and of course excellent sustain.
