Red Hot Chili Peppers Band Release New Single “Tippa my Tongue”

Red Hot Chili Peppers Band productivity continued to increase in the second half of the year. This is marked, once again, by the release of their new single ‘trippy’ entitled Tippa My Tongue on August 19, 2022. The song, which leans towards funk and rock, is the first taster of their upcoming new album.

In July, the band surprised fans by announcing that they would be releasing a new album in October this year. The album, which was once again produced by Rick Rubin, is entitled Return Of The Dream Canteen, which will arrive on October 14, 2022, through Warner Records.

Earlier this year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers band told NME they had “loose plans” to release another new album in the near future. The release was even ready to be released just a few months after their last album, Unlimited Love.

“We’re going to put out music with a handful of people—literally. Don’t be surprised if a wheelbarrow of other songs is coming your way in the near future. We have a lot of crap to change people,” says vocalist Anthony Kiedis.

Simultaneously, the Red Hot Chili Peppers also released a music video for Tippa My Tongue with a more colorful concept. It is full of pop colors with funk music and seems to immediately invite the listeners to dance. This music video is directed by Malia James.

Talking about the new album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers said in a statement: “We’re looking for ourselves as the band we’ve somehow always had. Just for fun, we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we began the mysterious process of building a new song. A little meddling with the beautiful chemistry we’ve befriended hundreds of times along the way.”

“Once we found the wrong stream of sound and vision, we continued to dig into it. With time turning into elastic belts of oversized underwear, we have no reason to stop writing and rocking. It was like a dream. When all is said and done, our moody love for one another and the magic of music have given us more songs than we knew we had to do. Yes, we found the answer,” they continued.

“Two double albums were released in quick succession. The second one is easy as meaningful as the first one or has to be reversed. Return Of The Dream Canteen is everything we have ever dreamed of and have ever dreamed of. It was packed,” they said.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves announced the news as they embarked on their North American tour at Empower Field in Denver. They kicked off their stadium tour at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville in June. Five new songs from the album Unlimited Love are played in a set of 18 songs. These include Aquatic Mouth Dance, Here Ever After, This Are The Ways, Whatchu Thinkin’, and the lead single Black Summer.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers band kicked off the show with the 2003 smash hit Can’t Stop and played many hits throughout the night, including Scar Tissue, Californication, and Give It Away. The show concluded with a two-song encore featuring 1992’s Under The Bridge and 2002’s By The Way.

Reviewing the show, NME said: “Anthony Kiedis stepped onto the stage and launched a thunderous Can’t Stop, Red Hot Chili Peppers urgently and passionately. What followed was a very enjoyable 100-minute set that saw the band showcase their impressive heritage but also underscore why they are still a rock band that is bold.”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers band finally received the Global Icon Award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards at the end of last August. This year’s VMAs will take place on August 28, 2022, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with Jack Harlow, Nicki Minaj, and LL Cool J hosting the event.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who released their new album Unlimited Love in April, will be performing live at the 2022 VMAs. They join a line-up of artists including Nicki Minaj, Harlow, Lizzo, Måneskin, Anitta, BLACKPINK, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, and Panic! At The Disco.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers band, which was nominated in the Best Rock category for their song Black Summer, will also receive the Global Icon Award that night, which was presented last year to the Foo Fighters.

This award celebrates “an artist or band whose unparalleled career, impact, and influence have maintained a unique level of global success in music and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape”.

Meanwhile, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ appearance at the 2022 VMAs will mark their first at the event since 2000, when they received the Video Vanguard Award and performed Californication. This year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award goes to Nicki Minaj.
