Pale Waves New Album “Jealousy”

Pale Waves New Album, an indie rock unit from England, has released their new single, Jealousy. The single released on June 28, 2022, is taken from the band’s upcoming new album Unwanted, a follow-up to the album Who Am I? the year 2021 ago. The new album will be released on August 12, 2022, via Dirty Hit.

Jealousy’s new single follows the two previously released Pale Waves New Album singles, Lies and Reasons to Live. In a press release, Pale Waves said that the new single finds vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie toying with her overly obsessive personality.

The single, which was the preview for Pale Waves New album, was also released along with a music video that was released on the same date. The music video for the single Jealousy, directed by Vasilisa Forbes, features the members of Pale Waves playing their respective roles in the band in black and white scenes. Talking about the song, vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie said: “Some people might see it as ridiculous, but I like a little bit of jealousy—not too much, but enough. I want jealousy in a relationship because it shows me that the person only has eyes for him, just for ‘me and me only.”

Regarding the upcoming Pale Waves album, Heather Baron-Gracie added that the album dives into the feeling that they not only need to write but feel like their fans want to hear.

“Almost everyone feels unworthy or made to feel not good enough. It’s a consistent theme I see from our fans—that their families disapprove of them, or their friends disapprove of them because they left. So Unwanted must be honest, provocative, and loud. Not only thematically, but also in music,” continued the vocalist.

Jealousy is a thesis on what is and isn’t OK in a relationship. Vocalist Heather Baron Gracie finishes the entire song and plays the role of someone who is so obsessed with her partner, to the point that old photos, other names, and previous fires can’t even be mentioned in the song. According to Heather Baron-Gracie, the track comes from a very real place.

At its core, Jealousy is basically an Olivia Rodrigo song. This song is pop music dressed up under the guise of another genre. The chorus is pure power pop, while the guitar lines throughout the verse are as generic as crisp rock chords. There’s a bit of sweet falsification towards the end as you’d expect from a roaring solo: instead, the band just drops to a softer volume and keeps churning out songs without much fanfare.

Pale Waves delivers an amazing, infectious hook right in the middle of the song. It’s always been their greatest asset, and maybe if they were more willing to give up the standard rock sound they insist on returning, they could find something really interesting.

With this new single, the Manchester collective traces their emotional experience and the emergence of a strong brand as a collective for misfits and LGBTQ+ fans. This single is also packaged in a ‘gothic edgy’ Pale Waves style.

For this single, Pale Waves teamed up with acclaimed Los Angeles producer Zakk Cervini, who has worked with everyone from Blink-182, Modern Baseball, Halsey, and Machine Gun Kelly. This collaboration was built to start a new era of Pale Waves in printing his works.

In early June, Pale Waves released a single titled Reasons To Live which became the second preview for the album Unwanted. This song is about feeling very drained and feeling unhappy. However, after that, that person finds the right person until he gets a strong reason to continue his life.

The Reasons To Live track follows the preview for the album with the single Lies, which was released in early May. About the Pale Waves New album, the vocalist said Lies told a story about someone who builds someone’s trust and destroys it like a wrecking ball.

In addition, Pale Waves has also announced a UK tour for November, following a number of festival performances including Neighborhood Weekender, Community Festival, Y-Not, Kendal Calling, Boardmasters, to Reading & Leeds. They will also headline Live At Leeds: In The City in October.
