NOFX Band Announce New Single Album “DOUBLE ALBUM”

NOFX Band – Los Angeles-based punk rock unit NOFX have announced their new record, Double Album. This new album is a follow-up to the Single Album which was released this February. The Double Album is scheduled to be released on December 2, 2022.

On the other hand, NOFX Band announced earlier this month that they intend to disband in 2023. Therefore, Double Album is likely to be the band’s last release. The announcement came alongside a new single titled Darby Crashing Your Party, a tribute to the late Germs frontman Darby Crash.

NOFX frontman Fat Mike in a press release described the album as “probably our funniest release. You guys have to laugh at everything because the world is collapsing and you have to have the right attitude not to take it seriously.”

“So this is how I’ve always done it. I make people laugh every day. I usually do it in a self-deprecating way, that’s how I live my life: I have as much fun as I can. That’s life, trying to find all the happiness you can. And spread happiness. Which I think should be my job in life – spreading joy.”

Responding to a comment on one of his most recent Instagram posts, Fat Mike wrote: “Next year will be last year [NOFX]. We will be announcing our final show soon. What a wonderful journey…”

The revelations came after a follower asked Mike—real name Michael Burkett—why the group “hardly came to Canada” to play a live show. After fans learned of the news, other users asked if NOFX would be performing in LA before disbanding.

Fat Mike replied: “Los Angeles will be our last place to play. That’s where we start, that’s where we’ll end.”

In January 2021, NOFX Band has announced a new album titled Single Album. In particular, NOFX collaborated with Avenged Sevenfold for the album’s lead single, Linewleum. For the record, Single Album is NOFX’s 14th full album released via Fat Mike’s label, Fat Wreck Chords. The single album is also a continuation of the 2016 NOFX album, First Ditch Effort.

Recorded at Motor Studios San Francisco with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore the 12-track recording was described as “unpredictable” and “most personal” from NOFX to date.

“I don’t know why Linoleum [released in 1994] is a NOFX song covered by so many bands while other NOFX songs get almost no attention,” explained vocalist Fat Mike in a press release. “Linoleum is not a single, no video, no radio play, and most importantly, not even a chorus!!! All popular songs have a chorus! WTF!”

“So one night I stayed up until 4:00 in the morning to see all the different versions on YouTube. Watching hundreds of bands from over 28 countries (mostly Indonesia) perform Linoleum was a humbling experience for me. So I decided to write a song that is a shout-out to everyone who learns those four chords and remembers the lyrics that don’t rhyme.”

Mike went on to describe Linewleum as “a song about not playing a song that isn’t a hit with a video about another band covering the song!”, adding: “This is why I love punk rock writing punk songs. Rules out the door!”

The upcoming Single Album was originally set to be a double album, but the coronavirus pandemic changed NOFX’s plans. One of them was when in March 2021, the group began to share new songs for fans during the lockdown period.

“When you write a double album, you write differently. I’m writing very different songs, and some fun songs, but you have to make a double album that’s interesting enough to listen to in its entirety. I wanted to make a perfect double album, and I didn’t achieve it. So I decided to just make one album, that’s the title,” said Mike.

NOFX Band is a punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States. Formed in 1983 by vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin, and drummer Erik Sandin as the principal founder and longest-serving member of NOFX. El Hefe later joined NOFX in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, completing the current lineup.

NOFX’s major success coincided with a growing interest in punk rock during the 1990s, although unlike many of their contemporaries (including Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Offspring), they were never signed to a major label.
