New Album Metallica Has been Announced Titled 72 Seasons
New Album Metallica – Metallica is back with the latest news that you can’t miss, Metallica has announced a new album entitled 72 Seasons. This album is the follow-up to Hardwired… To Self-Destruct which was released in 2016. This album will be released on April 14, 2023.
As well as just announcing a new album, Metallica also announced a major world tour for 2023 and 2024. The metal icon’s European tour—which includes the previously announced Download Festival headline slot—started the same month.
Metallica has indeed been very stable at the end of 2022, so they don’t hesitate to share Lux Æterna’s first single as well. The first taste of the new album was produced by Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich. All of you can listen to the new single that never dies, Lux Æterna.
Talking about the inspiration behind the name of the upcoming new record, in a press release frontman James Hetfield said, “72 Seasons. It is the first 18 years of our lives that make up our true or false selves. The concept is that we are told ‘who we are’ by our parents. The possibility of finding out what kind of personality we are.”
“I think the most exciting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how they impact our perception of the world today. Most of our adult experiences are reenactments or reactions to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or freeing ourselves from the bonds we carry,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Metallica’s world tour in Europe will start in Amsterdam on April 27, 2023, and also visit several other big cities such as Paris, Hamburg, and Gothenburg throughout May and June 2023, before continuing their tour to North America.
After that, Metallica will then return to Europe for second legs in May, June, and July 2024, followed by further dates in North America.
The tour included two nights in each city, promising a “no repeat weekend” of two different sets and two different opening acts. Support during this tour by Metallica included Architects, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills, Pantera, Volbeat, and Greta Van Fleet.
Meanwhile, the opening single for their new album, Lux Æterna, which was released on November 28, 2022, seems to have become material that has been long awaited. Metallica is trying to quench the thirst of its fans—including all of you—through this song that’s no less fierce.
Lux Æterna is short and thrashy! Metallica doesn’t seem to want to bother about the tendency of metal music to be synonymous with long durations. Lux Æterna’s song is one of the short-duration songs that James Hetfield and his friends have worked on with a duration of only 3:31 minutes.
Lux Æterna’s song also at first glance sounds like the band’s debut on the album Kill ‘Em All with quite a strong thrash character. In terms of lyrics, this is a twin of the song Whiplash and Motorbreath which focuses on community ties.
James Hetfield also lends his great voice to this song. If some singers will get a sound character that is more ‘mature’, it seems that vocalist James Hetfield is also experiencing. The increasingly heavy character is displayed by the vocalist quite stably which shows the quality of his flying hours so far. The best and no less crazy is how Hetfield sings the high notes in the chorus!
Even though Lux Æterna’s single has a duration that isn’t very long, you can’t just give a single thumbs up when playing the musical instruments of each of the personnel. Must be two. The problem is that you will hear Lars Ulrich’s fierce, mature, and surging drum beats. Not to mention the stable double kick drum that fills several parts of the song, making Lux Æterna sound magnificent!
As is known so far, Metallica is indeed one of the legends of heavy metal music. American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. The name Metallica itself was originally planned by a friend of Lars Ulrich to be the name of a music magazine. But Lars Ulrich actually used it as the name of his band.
Until now, Metallica has released at least one album. Among them are Kill ‘Em All (1983), Ride the Lightning (1984), Master of Puppets (1986), …And Justice for All (1988), Metallica (1991), Load (1996), Reload (1997), St. Anger (2003), Death Magnetic (2008), Hardwired… to Self-Destruct (2016). And their latest album, 72 Seasons, will be released in 2023.
