DIMARZIO D Activator Review

DIMARZIO D Activator – Active pickup, is known for its distinctive character; powerful, clean, with an open sound as well as low tight. but there are also those who argue that this type of pickup sounds “stiff” with the limited dynamic response, and of course, must replace the battery within a certain time.

In 2006, one of the well-known pickup manufacturers; DiMarzio, released The D Activator series which provides all the advantages of an active pickup but at the same time eliminates all the disadvantages of this type of pickup.

This pickup does sound almost as loud as the EMG 81 and is also as clean as an active pickup, complete with the harmonics found in the active pickup, but also responds to the dynamics of the hard picking that is played. when we lower the volume knob on the guitar, this pickup will sound cleaner, and also the character at the high frequency of this pickup accommodates us to get an open sound but still sounds smooth.

Overall this pickup does look like answering all the complaints of active pickup users. Although it has a similar character to an active pickup, there are still differences (though not too significant) between this pickup and an active pickup in general, you could say this pickup presents a new “feel” when we play the guitar using this pickup.
