Beartooth Band Announces Upcoming Album Title “The Surface” Released October 2023
Beartooth Band, a Gold-certified American rock band as well as billions of streams, which consists of Caleb Shomo (vocals), Zach Huston (guitar), Will Deeely (guitar), Oshie Bichar (bass), and Connor Denis (drums), has just announced a new album. Their fifth, ‘The Surface’, will be released on October 13th through Red Bull Records.
Like his previous releases, ‘The Surface’ was a very important and personal journey for Shomo, who has never hesitated to share his personal experiences candidly in his music and with his fans. However, he has reached a turning point with a more optimistic outlook on life and has shown tremendous growth as an artist and a human through the songs that have been part of this album.
“The entire Beartooth discography is a reflection of my inner monologue and emotional state over the years with a theme that has become consistent: depression and self-loathing,” Shomo said in a press release.
Shomo also added that it was difficult for him to understand why he could feel like that for so long. During the pandemic, he was faced with two different paths in life. First, he did nothing to address the mental health condition and continued down a path of self-harm, ultimately self-destruction.
Second, he chose to do work that required me to be able to maintain a healthier relationship with myself, no matter how difficult or painful it was.
“This album is the story of my beginning in a new world that I created for myself. A world focused on health, self-love, positivity, understanding, hard work, and most importantly second chances. In the end, life is short and there is no escape from death. So why not make friends with that fact and try to live for ourselves,” he said.
With that statement in mind, Beartooth Band shared the video for their first single heading into its new chapter, “Might Love Myself.” This song was first played yesterday via the SiriusXM Octane event. “I truly believe that mental health starts with a healthy relationship with yourself,” added Shomo.

Shomo also emphasized that loving himself was something he never believed would be a part of his life before. She was always depressed and lost in grief, believing that this part of herself always stood out in her mind. However, through hard work comes results. Self-love must be a choice; it cannot be emotion alone. Emotions are temporary and can change with a sunset or a word. Choosing to make her own health (mentally and physically) the highest priority in my life has been the only path she has found to self-love.
“It helped me realize what I am capable of, how strong, and that progress is more important than trying to fix emotions instantly. This song is about the first moment when I realized that something was going to change significantly in my life,” he said.
Beartooth Band recently wrapped up their US tour with Trivium and will be returning to Australia for the first time in four years to co-headline with Pierce The Veil. Next, they will head to Europe to perform at several music festivals.
