JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER Release New Single Album, “I AM”
Vecna’s alien star from Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 4, Jamie Campbell Bower, has announced that he’s releasing a new song called I Am. It’s no secret that the actor who plays the villain named Vecna in the fourth season of Stranger Things is multitalented.
For the record, Jamie Campbell Bower was a frontman for the punk band Counterfeit from London before starting his career as a solo singer. In a recent interview on The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon told Jamie Campbell Bower that he has a new song released on August 12, 2022. Jamie confirmed it to Jimmy Fallon and mentioned the title, I Am.
“I am so excited. Everything feels unreal now,” he said. He then shared the news on his official Twitter account.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jamie Campbell Bower recites the lyrics to Lizzo’s About Damn Time in Vecna’s low, threatening voice. He also said he was inspired by Doug Bradley’s portrayal of Hellraiser for the role.
Jamie Campbell Bower previously revealed that he listened to a Placebo cover of Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) to help him get out of character after playing Vecna. Kate Bush’s original version of the song appeared prominently in Stranger Things 4, leading to a major resurgence in popularity.
Prior to appearing on the Stranger Things series, Bower spoke to NME about how he enjoys the freedom of being a solo musician.
“I feel creative in the best space I’ve been in for a long time, if ever. I want to be careful here because I don’t want to be like, ‘Oh well, I’m the only wolf and I don’t need anyone, but of course, there’s something to be said for just going with your guts and going with intuition,” he said at the time.
After being announced, Jamie Campbell Bower’s new single titled I Am was released on August 12, 2022. This song is dark and melodious country rock. The lyrics and accompanying music video make several references to death and religion.
The music video for the single I Am was helmed by brothers Vicente and Fernando Cordero, who served as director and cinematographer, respectively. Both featured Jamie Campbell Bower playing two roles.
In a press statement, these characters were described as “a preacher in the pulpit, delivering a fiery liturgy, and a wayward congregation stumbling in the chapel.”
Thematically, Jamie Campbell Bower said that the music video represents a “haunting look when confronted with yourself.”
Jamie Campbell Bower’s first song of the year, Crow, arrived back in April. The following month, he shared a double A-side Run On—which featured King Sugar—and Devil In Me.
Bower has had a learning musical career since his screen debut in the 2007 musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. In the single I Am, Bower now takes on the role of himself in a similar way. In his deep, booming voice, the singer delivers a fiery sermon on conflicting confessions: “I’m an angel/ I’m a demon/ I’m a newborn fawn.”

James Metcalfe Campbell Bower was born on 22 November 1988. He is an English actor and singer. He made his feature film debut in 2007 with a supporting role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Later he appeared in The Twilight Saga, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and as a young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
In the 2010s, Jamie Campbell Bower was part of the main cast of the historical series Camelot on Starz and Will on TNT. In 2022, Bower received critical acclaim for his performance as Henry Creel in the fourth series of Stranger Things. From 2015 to 2020, he was the vocalist for the London-based band Counterfeit.
In 2022, Jamie Campbell Bower brought at least four singles such as Crow which was released in April, last May he released the singles Run On (featuring King Sugar) and Devil In Me, and the single I Am which was released this August.
