Halestorm announces new album, “Back From The Dead”
Halestorm has shared the new single The Steeple from their upcoming fifth album, Back From The Dead. Back From The Dead will be released on May 6, 2022. Halestorm explains how gay fans’ struggles with their families inspired another of their new songs.
In a recent conversation with Loudwire Nights, vocalist Lzzy Hale explained how a conversation with a young fan eventually developed into one of the band’s new songs.
“There is a song on the album that was actually inspired by this conversation I had with a young girl,” explains Lzzy Hale. He said that the girl spent most of the quarantine time checking the band’s social and fan comments.
“He is still a teenager, he still lives with his parents. He came out gay, and basically told me and everyone else online that the parent response was, ‘Well, death would be better.’ We are all very angry about it, because how can you say that to your daughter, no matter who she is? want to kiss? It doesn’t matter,” continued Lzzy Hale.
Lzzy Hale called the resulting song his “national anthem” without specifying which tracks on the new album the story refers to. Lzzy Hale also added: “We all have something. We all have something unique about us, not everyone will understand.”
In a press release for the new record, Hale described the song collection as “a journey navigating mental health, debauchery, survival, redemption, rediscovery and still maintaining faith in humanity.”

In January 2022, Halestorm confirmed they were unharmed and safe after their tour bus caught fire in the middle of the night. The US rock band recently wrapped up several of their tours with Evanescence on the east coast of the United States. However, their short tour was not entirely smooth sailing.
Guitarist Joe Hottinger posted a photo of the burning bus interior on Instagram. “Old Halestorm had a night for the books. We were all in our hotel rooms last night and we woke up to our bus burning down at 3 AM,” Halestorm wrote in the caption to the photo post on Instagram.
In November 2021, Lzzy Hale had a duet with Amy Lee of Evanescence and for a cover of Linkin Park’s song, Heavy. The two vocalists kicked off their co-headline band tour of the US on November 5, 2021, at Oregon’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland, the USA performing the song.
Amy Lee who was sitting at the piano welcomed Lzzy Hale onto the stage. The pair started the cover with a more subtle twist on the Linkin Park track before Evanescence turned it into a heavier cover. Heavy is the lead single on Linkin Park’s final album, One More Light, which was released two months before singer Chester Bennington committed suicide in July 2017.
Additionally, Amy Lee also joined Lzzy Hale for the previous Break-In song during the set by appearing on the updated version for Halestorm’s EP Reimagined (2020).
Halestorm is a rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania, United States. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, his brother drummer and percussionist Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bassist Josh Smith.
Halestorm’s self-titled debut album was released in April 2009, through Atlantic Records. Their second album, The Strange Case Of…, was released in April 2012. Its lead single Love Bites (So Do I) won a Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” in February 2013. Their third album, Into the Wild Life ( 2015), peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. The band’s fourth album, Vicious (2018), debuted at number eight on the chart, becoming their second top 10 records.
Halestorm is renowned for its almost non-stop touring, often performing as many as 250 shows a year. Since 2006 they have toured with many Hardrock and heavy metal bands including Alice Cooper, Alter Bridge, Chevelle, Seether, Staind, Papa Roach, Trapt, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, In This Moment, Disturbed, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Wok, Hellyeah, Heaven & Hell, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless, Starset, Sevendust, Dorothy, Lita Ford, Godsmack, Bullet for My Valentine, New Years Day, and Stitched Up Heart. Halestorm appeared at the first annual Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. They also performed in October 2010 the band traveled to Japan to participate in the Loud Park Festival. Halestorm also appeared on the 2010 Taste of Chaos tour.
After concerts were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Halestorm launched #RoadieStrong, a fundraiser for Live Nation Entertainment’s Crew Nation fund to support live show crews. The effort was also supported by Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, and other artists.
