Pulp Comeback Album “More” Set for 2025 Release

To kick off their return, Pulp released the lead single “Spike Island“, a sonic glimpse into the band’s evolved musical direction. The Pulp comeback album serves as a deeply personal reflection by frontman Jarvis Cocker, built on intuition and raw emotion.

The album More will feature 11 tracks covering themes such as passion, relationship dynamics, parental anxiety, and the emotional bonds tied to people and places. Cocker revealed that the album marks his effort to reconnect with feelings he had long avoided.

Pulp Reunion Fueled by Loss and Reflection

The idea of creating More was sparked during their 2023 reunion tour. Unlike their 2011 reunion, which focused solely on classics, this time Pulp introduced new material. Jarvis Cocker mentioned that the death of bassist Steve Mackey in 2023 played a pivotal role in their decision to return to the studio.

Additionally, Cocker lost his mother in the same year, pushing him further into reflection and rekindling his desire to create with Pulp. “When those close to you die, you realize you’re still alive and capable of creating something meaningful,” he said.

For this monumental project, Pulp enlisted producer James Ford, known for his work with Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines D.C., and The Last Dinner Party. Ford’s versatility reminded Cocker of legendary producer Chris Thomas, who helmed Pulp’s classic albums Different Class and This Is Hardcore.

The recording process for More was refreshingly swift—just three weeks—offering a stark contrast to the extended sessions of past albums. “I was really anxious about recording again because This Is Hardcore took so long and almost broke me,” Cocker admitted.

This time, however, the experience was liberating. “Rather than keep people waiting and prolonging it all, we finished it quickly and honestly,” Cocker said, reflecting on the positive shift in their creative process.
