Japanese rock sensation One Ok Rock has officially released their latest single, “Puppets Can’t Control You,” on January 19, 2025. The track serves as the fourth single from their highly anticipated album, DETOX, set to drop in full on February 22, 2025.

Interestingly, “Puppets Can’t Control You” made its debut as the ending theme for the first episode of the Japanese drama Mikami Sensei, which also premiered on January 19, 2025. Following its appearance on the show, the single was launched across major digital music platforms, sparking excitement among fans.

The album DETOX represents more than just One Ok Rock’s 11th studio album. It marks a major milestone for the band as they prepare to celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2025.
Produced under the legendary label Fueled By Ramen—home to renowned acts like Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Twenty One Pilots—the album features collaborations with Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo and Grammy nominees Dan Lancaster and Pete Nappi.

Lead vocalist Taka shared his thoughts on the single’s creation, emphasizing its heartfelt production and deeper meaning.
“We poured our hearts into this song, along with the passion of our producers, hoping to become a catalyst in today’s world. Through this drama and music, we aim to convey our emotions to the listeners,” Taka stated in an interview with Tokyo Tunes on January 21, 2025.
Taka also expressed his hope that the song resonates emotionally with its listeners, aligning with the reflective journey of the drama Mikami Sensei.
