Niki Officially Announces World Tour This Year
NIKI have announced a major world tour in support of their second album, Nicole. NIKI or Nicole Zefanya officially announced a world tour on May 15, 2023. The Indonesian-born singer-songwriter and 88rising artist announced it on social media to break the news.
The tour will take her to popularize Nicole’s album worldwide. The worldwide tour begins in North America in May and August, before NIKI performs in Asia and Australia in September.
He will conclude his tour with his first series of headlining shows in London and Europe in October. Tickets for all of NIKI’s worldwide tour performances will go on sale on May 18, 2023.
In September, NIKI will start its tour in Asia starting from Bangkok, Manila, and Singapore, and has previously flown to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. NIKI will end its world tour in Asia by holding a concert at JIExpo Hall D2, Kemayoran, Jakarta.
In addition to announcing their worldwide tour, NIKI has also released a new music video for the song Backburner, taken from Nicole’s album. The Backburner music video officially launched on May 15, 2023. This music video was directed by Isaac Ravishankara. Watch the music video below:
NIKI’s second album, Nicole, received four-star reviews from NME. Khyne Palumar wrote: “On Nicole [album], NIKI reconnects with her folk-pop roots, ditching Moonchild’s string of co-writers and savvy pop sheen. He instead reproduces songs written in his teens, embracing raw confessions and unapologetic schmaltz.”
Speaking to NME after Nicole’s album was released, NIKI walked us through her first experiences, including the first time she realized she wanted to be a musician, the first song she wrote, her first job, and more.

NIKI released their second studio album, titled Nicole, on August 12, 2022, via 88rising. Nicole Zefanya—NIKI’s real name—at that time stated on her social media that the album contained old songs that she had uploaded to YouTube at the beginning of her musical career.
NIKI revealed that he had secretly re-recorded and re-imagined the songs. NIKI then greeted his fans and thanked his followers on his social media. He also said that we can all still access his first creative outlets and collections. NIKI also did not forget to say that this dream seems a little impossible to come true without the support of its fans.
NIKI also revealed that a series of re-recording albums by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift had been released as one of the inspirations behind Nicole’s album. Nicole is an album containing 12 songs, two of which are previously released singles, Before and Oceans & Engines.
In early August 2022, NIKI also released the single High School In Jakarta which is no less phenomenal along with its music video which has now been watched more than 26.6 million times on YouTube.

In a four-star review, NME wrote that NIKI had never cared much for one style of music. He once proved this himself when NIKI released the album Moonchild (2020), a top album on the NME album list.
NIKI itself is noted to have moved away from the smooth 1990s RnB in its 2018 debut EP, Zephyr. NIKI doesn’t even stop creating phenomena, one of which is when she made a soundtrack for the Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, entitled Every Summertime, which went viral on TikTok.
This Indonesian singer-songwriter has also come a long way from playing the guitar as a teenager after being trusted to open Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour in Jakarta until moving to Los Angeles, United States to sign a contract with Sean Miyashiro’s 88rising label. On his second full-length album, titled his full first name, NIKI looks back at his early journey as a musician—including the YouTube channel ‘nzee24’ which he deleted early in his career.
On this Nicole album, NIKI reconnects with her folk-pop roots. He seems to dispense with the co-writer strings and witty pop sheen of Moonchild. NIKI also reproduces songs written in his teens.
