Mxmtoon Releases the Revamped “The Idea of You” from Her EP Plum Blossom (Revisited)
Mxmtoon an American singer has returned with a fresh release from her EP Plum Blossom (revisited), the latest iteration of the EP that originally made her a worldwide sensation in 2018. This time, she’s unveiled “The Idea of You (revisited),” a song that’s sure to captivate her fans.
“When I decided to revisit the EP Plum Blossom, one of the songs I was most excited to record was ‘The Idea of you,'” stated mxmtoon, whose real name is Maia, in her press release.
She further explained that she always felt the song had the untapped potential to sound more expansive than when she first recorded it at the age of 17. Now, she’s thrilled to bring it to life in a new light.
“The lyrics still resonate with me as an adult today. It’s incredibly satisfying to have a version that stays thematically relevant but sounds even more exciting. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this version and hope they experience the joy I felt while listening to it,” she emphasized.

Maia also emphasizes the importance of collaborating exclusively with female producers. She enlisted Merrill Garbus as a co-producer and engineer and Laura Sisk, known for her work with artists like Lana Del Rey and Lorde, to handle the mixing process. She spent two weeks at the Tiny Telephone Studios in Oakland, working closely with Merrill, who is known for her exploratory approach. Maia even experimented with creating beats by clapping two books together, reminiscent of the techniques she used when producing the original EP Plum Blossom.
