Major Labels Cancel Grammy Week 2025 Events Due to Los Angeles Wildfires

Grammy Week 2025 – A number of major record labels, including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music, and BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group), have officially canceled their Grammy Week 2025 events in response to the devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles, California.

In an email statement, BMG announced the cancellation of their pre-Grammy party originally scheduled for January 28, citing solidarity with wildfire victims.

“With heavy hearts, we announce that BMG will no longer be hosting our Pre-Grammy Party on Tuesday, January 28. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the wildfires,” BMG shared via a statement published by Variety on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

BMG also expressed gratitude to firefighters and first responders for their relentless efforts to contain the blaze.

“We extend our deepest thanks to the firefighters and first responders in Los Angeles County for their tireless work in combating the fires,” the company added.

Sony Music similarly stated that the decision to cancel all Grammy Week events was made to redirect the company’s focus and resources toward local recovery efforts.

Universal Music Group, another industry giant, announced the cancellation of their annual Grammy showcase and after-party.

“Today, we have canceled all our Grammy-related events, including the Artist Showcase and Post-Grammy Party, and we will allocate those resources to support those affected by the wildfires,” Universal Music Group wrote on their X account (@UMG) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Meanwhile, Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, and Tammy Hurt, Chair of the Board of Trustees, shared their heartfelt condolences for those impacted by the wildfires.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. This city is our home, and we mourn the loss of lives and the destruction that has occurred in recent days,” they said in a joint statement.

The Recording Academy also confirmed its collaboration with local authorities to prioritize the safety of the community and ensure the responsible use of resources. Despite the challenging circumstances, the 67th Grammy Awards, set to take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, will proceed as scheduled.

According to Variety, The Recording Academy has received support from California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in navigating the crisis while preparing for the Grammy Awards.
