Ahead of the release of his new single, “Safe,” on January 24, Saxe has announced that his planned single release show will now serve as a benefit concert to support victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

JP Saxe Leverages His Music to Make a Difference,

The event, dubbed the “NY for LA” show, is set to take place on January 22 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, just two days before the song’s official debut. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Mutual Aid LA, an organization dedicated to aiding those impacted by the fires. Tickets are available for purchase now.

“What’s the point of writing a song about wanting to make people feel ‘safe’ if we don’t take real action?” Saxe expressed in a heartfelt Instagram post on January 16. “So, Wednesday night at Bowery Ballroom, we’re doing this. All proceeds will go to help those affected by the fires. I’ll play new songs, and maybe some friends will join in. Let’s raise a lot of money and send some New York love to our LA family.”

This initiative comes on the heels of Saxe promoting a GoFundMe campaign for his close friend and collaborator, Ryan Marrone, who tragically lost his home in the wildfires. The fundraiser has already surpassed $96,000 in donations.

The California wildfires, which began on January 7 in Pacific Palisades, have wreaked havoc across Los Angeles. Despite the efforts of first responders, the fires have spread rapidly, resulting in at least 25 fatalities as reported by CNN. As of now, the Palisades Fire has scorched nearly 24,000 acres and is only 31% contained, while the Eaton Fire has burned over 14,000 acres and is 65% contained.

JP Saxe’s benefit concert not only promises an evening of inspiring music but also serves as a reminder of the profound impact collective efforts can have in times of crisis.
