The collaboration between Jamie xx and Erykah Badu was born from an unexpected moment during Primavera Sound Festival. While Badu was performing, a technical malfunction disrupted her equipment, forcing her to improvise with just a microphone. Jamie, who was in the crowd, recorded the raw, impromptu performance on his phone. That recording later became the foundation for “F.U.”, which was developed during the In Waves recording sessions.
The two artists reconnected in London, where Badu added her signature soulful vocals, turning the track into a mesmerizing fusion of electronic beats and neo-soul elements.

“F.U.” is part of the deluxe edition of Jamie xx’s critically acclaimed second album, In Waves. The special edition includes:
