ESP LTD SH 7 – It’s impossible if we don’t mention the name of KoRn in the journey of metal music, as one of the icons of nu-metal music, KoRn is one of the bands that bring new colors to the rock music scene, especially in terms of sound. And if we talk about the sound of the band, we will definitely focus on the two guitarists, Munky and Head. It was because of these two people that the seven-string guitar was again popular among musicians, especially guitarists. Well, in this article we will discuss the signature series of the guitarist, Brian ‘Head’ Welch.
After previously Head and Munky together with Ibanez issued a signature series, recently Head finally “moved” to another manufacturer, namely ESP. at the end of 2017 to be exact at NAMN, ESP showcased the guitarist’s latest series which also confirmed that Head was with ESP.

At first glance, this ESP SH-7ET guitar looks like the ESP Horizon series, but in the specifications there are several modifications that distinguish this guitar from the Horizon series, starting from its neck-through construction, ebony fretboard, and the use of the EverTune Bridge.

The striking difference from this guitar lies in the bridge. Maybe that’s the first thing we’ll notice when we see this guitar. This guitar uses a bridge from EverTune, which claims the product can keep the guitar in tune for a very long time. One of the reasons for using this bridge is to keep this guitar safe when played using drop tuning because one of the problems that often arise when using drop tuning is that the guitar will often go out of tune.
Versatile electronic components
Another interesting thing about this guitar lies in its pickups, by using Fishman Fluence Pickups in both positions (neck and bridge), this guitar allows us to get the powerful sound typical of active Humbucker pickups, as well as a brighter single-coil sound, only by using a push/pull switch on one of the knobs, it will be possible for the user to choose between the two sounds.
In addition to the two innovations above, finally, this guitar is equipped with a charming finish that uses a flamed maple top on a basswood body which is then wrapped in a translucent purple color. This guitar uses an ebony fretboard to give the impression of “bite” when we use down-tuning. One other interesting feature of this guitar is the Glow-in-the-dark side markers (inlay) feature that makes it easy for the user to still see the frets even in the middle of the dark stage.
