Avril Lavigne Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Avril Lavigne received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, USA, on Wednesday (31/8) local time. Also attending the event were Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun, Lavigne’s fiancé.
Lavigne gave a short speech while receiving the star. He recounted the moment when he first visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a teenager.
“So I’m 16 years old and it’s my first vacation to Hollywood, and of course, I have to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame because it’s iconic,” Lavigne said during a speech, as quoted by Variety.
Teenager Lavigne wore a navy sweater hoodie that read “Skateboarding is not a crime” while visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then, to honor that unforgettable moment, the Sk8er Boi singer put the sweater back on in front of the star who now has his name.
“I still remember seeing these legendary names, and I never imagined mine could be here,” Lavigne said.
“This is so crazy. I’m so grateful. This is probably one of the coolest days of my life,” he continued.
Avril Lavigne did not forget to thank her fiancé, producer, writer, and Machine Gun Kelly who collaborated with her.
When closing his speech, the 37-year-old soloist encouraged teenagers not to be afraid to dream. Because Lavigne’s own dream has finally come true after 20 years.
“I hope the next 16-year-old from a small town that one day comes to Hollywood full of hopes and dreams and then looks at this star and thinks, ‘Oh my God, my name could be here one day, because it can happen, ” said Lavigne.
“20 incredible years and I can’t wait for the next 20,” he added, closing the speech.
