Aerosmith’s Potential Return: Could the Band Stage a Comeback?
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton recently hinted that the iconic band might reunite for future projects—but only if lead vocalist Steven Tyler is on board.
The legendary rock group announced their retirement from touring last August, following Tyler’s laryngeal injury. Since then, no concrete plans for a return to the stage have been revealed.
In an interview with Boston’s WBUR radio station, the 73-year-old Hamilton provided an update on Tyler’s recovery. “Steven’s healing process is going well, but it follows its own rhythm. There’s a strong possibility that Aerosmith could do something in the future, but it would have to come from him. The last thing I want is to push Steven into anything,” he said, as reported by Music News.
Despite this optimism, Hamilton emphasized that the likelihood of another tour remains slim. Back in August, he shared with AARP that his hopes for a return fell between 7 and 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. “We won’t be touring again, but I’m always hopeful for new opportunities. It’s not the first time we’ve faced hard times, and somehow, the sun always finds a way to shine. Time and hope are what we have now,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of another Las Vegas residency, Hamilton expressed skepticism. “I doubt we’ll do another one in the future,” he remarked.
As for new music, there have been no discussions about recording a follow-up to their 2012 album Music From Another Dimension!
Aerosmith’s decision to retire from touring came after Tyler, now 76, sustained a laryngeal injury during their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour, which was initially set to conclude on February 26, 2025, in Buffalo, New York. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled after just three shows.

In an official statement, the band explained, “As you know, Steven’s voice is an extraordinary instrument. Despite months of relentless work to restore his voice with the best medical team, it’s clear that full recovery from his vocal injury isn’t possible. As brothers, we’ve made the heartbreaking but necessary decision to retire from touring.”
While the future of Aerosmith remains uncertain, fans worldwide hold on to the hope that the band’s iconic sound might grace the stage once more.
