Caskets Band Announce Their New Album “Reflections”
Caskets Band, a Leeds-based melodic metal unit have announced their new album, entitled Reflections. Their new album is ready to be released on August 11, 2023, via SharpTone Records.
To mark the announcement of the new album, the Leeds quintet has released a new single titled More Than Misery. The new single features a guest appearance from Telle Smith of The Word Alive.
Speaking of the track, frontman Matt Flood said More Than Misery was written around the conflict of being hypnotized by someone or something which will ultimately only lead to a toxic habit or bad will. Everyone has felt this and been in this situation in one way or another throughout their lives.
This song is about not wanting to be in this situation and feeling the struggle of bearing the weight of the pressure placed on one’s shoulders. How it can affect everything else around us, from mental health to the relationships that have been built around us.
Matt also said that there is still light at the end of the tunnel. There will be a way to acknowledge the situation and build a foundation of support around it to come face to face with what is holding us back. If we stepped into the unknown, we would all see more than misery in life.
For the Caskets band, hindsight is an art. It could have been easy to keep going, riding the wave of success from their breakthrough debut Lost Souls (2021)—which has racked up more than 80 million streams to date, and has also toured across the United States and Europe, to put on top performances at music festivals like Download Festival and Slam Dunk. But after trading positions in favor of number one albums for some time, reflecting on that journey, and the decisions that led them down this particular path quickly became unavoidable.
If Lost Souls was driven by vocalist Matt Flood’s personal experience, Reflections gives a broader picture of the Caskets as a whole. This album was born out of the interpersonal differences all bands have faced at least once in their careers. For some, this marks the end of the journey. But for others, it fosters a collaborative environment that pushes music beyond what has come before it.
The result is reflected by each Caskets member. Matt Flood is joined by guitarists Benji Wilson and Craig Robinson, bassist Chris McIntosh, and drummer James Lazenby. The more upbeat moments on the record carry impactful melodies, upping the ante with the full power of a Lost Souls album. Meanwhile, the strong ambient moments are played with real finesse.
Going one step further than the single retelling of Lost Souls, Dan Weller (Bury Tomorrow, Enter Shikari, Holding Absence) producing Reflections is a series of individual lessons. He looks back at a certain moment in one of the band members’ work. life; thoughts, feelings, or events, and how those moments shape the present.
“Reflections shows how much we can get from the band musically if we all put our heads together a little bit more,” Matt beams.
This latest record not only showcases the Caskets as a full-fledged entity but also represents an impressive musical range. The strong influence the quintet’s soundtracks have made on the road and in the studio greatly helped develop their sound quickly.
“It’s always been about the music, that’s what being in a band is all about. If we can include as much of our voice as possible but still sound like us, that’s my lifelong goal with the Caskets,” concluded Matt Flood.

Behind that, the Caskets band previously released the single Guiding Light which was also included in the album Reflections. The single launched in November 2022. This single is the follow-up to their successful debut album, Lost Souls.

Frontman Matt Flood commented that this song is about the redemption of the soul to ask for forgiveness from oneself and from the closest people in life. It’s about realizing that one needs a ‘guiding light’, a helping hand to navigate one’s way through a journey of self-doubt.
Caskets explained further, “I believe most can relate to feeling like they need help to be guided back to life, from whatever darkness they find themselves in. I struggle to ask for help. Getting lost in my own toxicity, surging into anger, and believing that I’m not the problem because everyone else is.”
Eventually, we will accept the fact that someone needs help, a way back into life. But it also needs to be led and governed—first and foremost—by his own hands.
