Iceage Band Release Rare Collection “Shake The Feeling”

Iceage Band from Denmark have announced that they will be releasing a new rare collection titled Shake The Feeling: Outtakes & Rarities 2015–2021. This rare collection will be released on September 23, 2022.

This rare collection released through Mexican Summer contains 12 non-album tracks—songs vocalist Elias Bender Rønnenfelt describes as “misfit children” including covers of Bob Dylan’s I’ll Keep It With Mine and Abner Jay’s Mulku.

To coincide with the announcement, the band released a new single also titled Shake The Feeling. The song was recorded during sessions for their 2018 album, Beyondless. But according to Rønnenfelt, it left the album because it was too “happy go lucky”. The single arrived alongside a music video directed by Alex Cantouris and filmed at the Moth Club in London, England. Watch the Shake The Feeling music video below.

“We thought this one was a bit too ‘nice’ and well-behaved at the time,” Rønnenfelt said of the title track Shake The Feeling in a press release.

“I didn’t want to learn the song, so I ended up improvising on the last take we did before leaving it. Come to think of it, I found the song really broad with an impulsiveness that’s hard to catch on purpose. It has some of the guitar pieces I’m most proud of personally.”

Meanwhile, Iceage’s album, Seek Shelter, arrived in May last year after being previewed with several singles at once, such as The Holding Hand, Vendetta, and Shelter Song. In a four-star review following its release, NME stated that recording the album was by far the most daring thing the Danes had ever made, but also an album that still feels clearly theirs.

“The savage 90-second punk songs of their early days may now have turned into sprawling stadium-rock songs, but Iceage remains as razor sharp as ever,” he concluded.

The last time Iceage released an album was in early May 2021 with the title Seek Shelter. It was the fifth studio album by Danish punk rock band Iceage. Released via Mexican Summer, the album is a post-punk album with classic rock and Britpop influences.

Seek Shelter experimented with a variety of sounds reminiscent of the music of Pogues, The Replacements, The Rolling Stones, and the Velvet Underground. Upon release, the album was met with wide critical acclaim with praise for its eclectic sound and poetic lyrics.

The album Seek Shelter from Iceage Band follows Iceage’s fourth album, which was released in 2018, Beyondless. The album was recorded in “long” sessions at Namouche Studios in Lisbon, Portugal. The album was produced by Iceage in collaboration with Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 and their longtime collaborator Nis Bysted.

The album Seek Shelter features guest appearances by guitarist Casper Morilla Fernandez and the Lisboa Gospel Collective. The album was mixed by Shawn Everett. The record was announced in February 2021, along with the cover art and tracklist. The track The Holding Hand was presented as the first single from the album on February 2, 2021. Then a track titled Vendetta was released as the album’s second single on February 17, 2021. The title track was delivered as the third and final single from the album on March 24, 2021.

Iceage Band is a punk rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band was formed in 2008 consisting of Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (vocals, guitar), Johan Surrballe Wieth (guitar, backing vocals), Jakob Tvilling Pless (bass), Dan Kjær Nielsen (drums), and a member who joined Iceage in 1999. 2019, guitarist Casper Morilla.
