Irig Blueboard from IK Multimedia Review

Irig Blueboard – Thanks to the emergence of digital plugins for recording purposes such as Amplitube, Guitar Rig, Kuassa Amplification, JST, etc. has made it easier for us, especially guitarists to work. Because of these plugins, it is easier for us to record our ideas without having to go to a professional studio first. Not only for use on a PC, now these plugins can be used on other gadgets such as the iPad.

Even though nowadays it’s easier for us to get sounds like amps, be it on a PC or on the iPad/tablet that we use, one of the questions that come up next is “Is it possible to use the software on stage?” the answer is very likely. Because I’ve seen several guitarists who actually brought their own laptops and used the software for their sound on stage.

One point that I got from the phenomenon above is regarding the operation, maybe those who bring a laptop like the one above can add a MIDI controller which is then connected to the laptop via the midi connector and then blah blah blah… and everything will be fine. But what about iPad users?

iRig Blueboard

Not long ago, IK Multimedia (which makes amplitudes, etc.) finally released a product called iRig Blueboard which really works for guitarists who actually use the iPad as a source of sound for their stage needs.

iRig BlueBoard is arguably a very good idea, especially if you often use instruments and + iPad as your working medium. Because being able to change the sound/presets of the plugins that we use with our feet (without having to click the mouse) is a “really something” thing, especially if we are used to using our own pedalboard on stage.

Even though the purpose of this thing is to make it easier for guitarists to use their plugins anywhere, unfortunately, we have to go through some complicated stuff, before we can finally operate this thing.

  • We have to scan the QR code contained in the box of this object to get the registration number so that this object can work
  • We have to download the application from Blueboard to our iPad/iPhone
  • To use BlueBoard with Amplitube, we have to change the MIDI mode to control change, then add account information (username and password) then enter the registration number that we get from the QR Code from this box
  • We have to select the type of AmpliTube that we want to control with this BlueBoard, then
  • Press and hold the on/off button for about 3 seconds
  • Do more or less the same thing to use BlueBoard with other apps

See, maybe the reasons above can more or less illustrate why I said this thing is complicated, maybe for friends who really like to study, the above is not a problem, but for a person like me who prefers simple things. above is enough to make a headache.

Conclusion

Even though there are “complicated things” in the Irig Blueboard, once we can operate this thing with our favorite plugins, this thing will be one of your smart things on stage, with a solid design and attractive appearance, this thing will be one of the best. one thing that attracts attention on stage, both from the audience and from other musicians.
