VV (Ville Valo) Release New Single and Music Video for Loveletting
VV (Ville Valo), who is the vocalist of HIM, has just released the first single from his new VV project, Loveletting. The single was released along with a music video featuring Ville Valo’s encounter with a sheep on April 8, 2022. The visual, which is quite dark, is in line with the song performed by VV. The music video shows this musician standing sadly, carrying a black umbrella meaningfully.
VV said that the single, which was taken from the album Neon Noir, which will be released early next year, came after he had needed time for the past few months to heal and bring himself back. Love letting is Ville Valo’s first new work since the EP Gothica Fennica Vol 1 in 2020, also released under the name VV.
Ville Hermanni Valo was born on November 22, 1976. In the beginning, he was known as a singer, musician, songwriter, and producer from Finland. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the gothic rock band HIM.
VV was Born and raised in Helsinki. His mother is from Hungary and his father is from Finland. He started his career playing bass and drums in various bands around the city. VV has a younger brother named Jesse, who like himself started his music career, before turning to professional kickboxing. The musician’s earliest musical memory is of his father, who often listened to Finnish folk artists such as Tuomari Nurmio and Tapio Rautavaara while driving his taxi. Her mother also often shared how Rauli’s Paratiisi “Badding” Somerjoki was the only thing that would calm her down as a baby. At the age of eight, he purchased the album Animalize by Kiss, which sparked his interest in music.
Ville Valo joined her first band B.L.O.O.D. at school age, who played his first and only show in front of his class. After that, he joined the Eloveena Boys, who performed various U2 and Dire Straits covers at their school. VV also wrote his first song while in the band. During seventh grade, Valo met guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström. The two soon joined Aurora, where Villie Valo was the drummer. During junior high school, he played bass and drums in various other bands as well. He also attended the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory. After junior high school, VV applied to the music-oriented Sibelius High School but was rejected. He ended up dropping out of school altogether to concentrate on his music career.
In 1991, he co-founded and became the lead singer and lead songwriter of HIM, which went on to become one of the most successful Finnish bands of all time. In 2005, HIM released Dark Light, which became the group’s most recognizable commercially successful album to date. It also gave HIM the distinction of being the first Finnish group in history to receive a record gold in the United States. Dark Light was followed by 2007’s Venus Doom. Although not as successful as its previous releases, Venus Doom gave HIM the highest chart position in the United States and earned them their first and only Grammy nomination.
On HIM’s next journey, more precisely after the 2010 album Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice, HIM entered a hiatus after Gas Lipstick was forced to take medical leave. After several months of uncertainty, the band regrouped and released Tears on Tape in 2013. Gas Lipstick later announced his departure from the band in 2015. He was replaced by Jukka “Kosmo” Kröger. However, two years later on March 5, 2017, HIM announced that the band would be disbanding after a farewell tour. HIM played its final show on New Year’s Eve 2017 as part of its annual Helldone Festival.
