Christine and the Queen Release Single Tears Can be So Soft
Christine and the Queen is back with their new single, Tears can be so soft. This release follows the singles To Be Honest and True Love which are tracks from the album Paranoïa, Angels, and True Love which will be released on 9 June.
Christine said the song Tears can be so soft was born from a blend of Marvin Gaye’s eye-catching, heady, and elegant samples that were almost ready in his melancholy string arrangement.
The French musician wanted the immersive feel of an almost womb-like hypnotic space, where voices could soar in their loneliness. Christine describes it as the interplay between the suffering that motivates the tears and the gentle healing effect they can have.
The single is Christine and the Queen’s second single to feature Mike Dean who has also worked with Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, and Kanye West behind the producer chair.
Tears can be so soft is also accompanied by a music video directed by Christine as she walks the streets of Los Angeles. In the music video, Christine is seen moving to the rhythm of the song.
The singer used the simplified name Chris on his 2018 album of the same name. Paranoia, Angels, and True Love will be the artist’s first album under the Christine and the Queens moniker since her debut album, Chaleur Humaine, which was released in 2014.

The singer reflected on her turbulent teenage years on her debut album, Chaleur Humaine which announced her as a very open talent through her single St. Claude and Tilted.
He then digs deeper into 2018’s Chris and explores 2022’s fantastical identity as Redcar.
Redcar took over writing, arranging, and producing the album. Chris refined a batch of songs to incorporate more hard-hitting 80s funk and R&B influences. Meanwhile, Christine and the Queen took part to perform in front of her audience.
The musician whose real name is Héloïse Létissier started her career using the moniker Christine and the Queens after a breakup. He chose to use this moniker as a form of homage to the drag queens who dance with him when he performs.
Her debut EP, Miséricorde, was released in 2011. Following this release, one year later Christine and the Queens released an EP, Mac Abbey (2012).
Christine and the Queen then signed with Because Music and put out the EP Nuit 17 à 52 which appeared on the French album chart SNEP. In June 2014, Christine released the album Chaleur Humaine which features songs from her teenage inspiration.
