The Berlin-based duo Nick & June are back with their latest single, “New Year’s Face,” released on December 27, 2024. This track serves as the lead single for their upcoming album, also titled New Year’s Face, set to debut in September 2025. Released in Asia through Green Island Music, the song marks an exciting chapter for the band.
“New Year’s Face” invites listeners to reflect on time, memories, and human connections. Produced by Peter Katis—renowned for his work with The National and Interpol—the song highlights Nick & June’s signature dreamy sound paired with deeply personal lyrics. The harmonized vocals of Suzie-Lou Kraft and Nick Wolf evoke a sense of longing and nostalgia, capturing fleeting moments with a melancholic yet beautiful touch.
The music video for “New Year’s Face” adds another layer of depth to the song. Shot in Suzie-Lou’s grandmother’s old farmhouse, the video was directed by Vanessa Cina and Lucian Kraft. It combines vintage home video footage with new scenes, creating a seamless dialogue between the past and present. Filmed with an iPhone and an old camcorder, the video embraces a DIY aesthetic that complements the themes of transience and nostalgia explored in the song.

Much of the album was recorded during an extended stay in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.
For this album, Nick & June collaborated closely with Peter Katis, experimenting with a wide range of instruments and textures. From iPhone-recorded soundscapes to lush brass arrangements, vintage drum machines, vocal samples, and Thomas Bartlett’s unique piano melodies, the album weaves a rich sonic tapestry.
The project also features contributions from guest musicians like The Antlers, Russian Red, and Owen Pallett of Arcade Fire, who added orchestration to the album’s finale.
