Korg Pandora Mini – Since its inception in 1995, Korg’s Pandora series has continued to grow, not only in terms of quality, but in terms of shape, which is getting smaller in each model. In this latest series, Pandora is back with very compact dimensions, approximately 3 inches long.

From the start, this series has been dedicated to providing a portable practice tool that provides a “finished” sound, be it for guitar or bass. By providing seven sound categories; amp modeling, cab modeling, dynamics and pickup modeling, modulation, delay, reverb, and noise reduction, there are more than 150 sounds/effects in this product. In addition, this one small object provides 200 presets that can be used by the user (160 for guitar, 40 for bass) complete with 200 user locations to store sound settings that have been made by the user.

Another interesting thing about this unit is that apart from being able to practice with sounds and effects worth listening to, it also features a metronome and a drum sound with 100 different rhythm patterns that can be adjusted in tempo and volume. In addition, with the aux input, this unit also allows users to practice along with their favorite songs. Oh, and one more thing, there is a pitch control feature that allows us to adjust the song we are playing with the guitar tuning we are using.

Sound

The Factory Presets presented in this effect use familiar names that make it easy for users to know which sound will come out just by looking at the preset name, for example Message in A bottle sound, Radiohead’s Tremolo’d, etc. Although I personally think that some presets sometimes present a modulation that is too wet, thus requiring the user to edit some presets.

Regarding the interface, Pandora presents an interface that is quite easy for users to do direct editing. If the user is still having trouble doing onboard editing, Korg also provides special software for users who want to edit the sound on a PC/laptop, although so far I have never tried this software because the interface provided is very simple and user friendly, hehe.

In addition, for users who are getting tired of using this unit with headphones, Korg Pandora mini also allows users to output sound through an amp or bigger speaker, although the sound produced may not be as good as other products, such as Line 6, Vox or BOSS. . However, for practice, the sound produced by this effect is sufficient.

Conclusion

Overall, Korg Pandora Mini has succeeded in presenting a multi-effect portable that is well designed and very user friendly. Although in this era of smartphones, there are many applications that provide features such as Tuner, Drum Beats and several effects, but apparently with dedication, Korg is able to present a better product with a complete package, both in terms of sound, features, and interface. To be sure, for practice, whether it’s in a hotel room or backstage before a gig, this item has helped me a lot to prepare myself before the gig, especially during the tour.
