BLOC PARTY Released a New Album Titled “The Girls Are Fighting”
Bloc Party has shared a new song called The Girls Are Fighting. The song is the second single for Bloc Party’s sixth album, Alpha Games, which will be released on April 29, 2022, via Infectious/BMG.
“There’s no particular incident that inspired this song – it’s more of a composite of many things I’ve seen over the years while at clubs and seeing violence erupt with hostile love rivals,” explains frontman Kele Okereke of Bloc Party pompous, offering The latest is glam rock.
“I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with those kinds of moments; like a fuse being lit, when actions turn from words to violence. You can learn a lot about who people really are in those moments,” Kele continued.
She continued, “I think The Girls Are Fighting’ is pretty clear, someone has sold someone a dream they shouldn’t have and it caught up with them. I just wanted to capture the moment from zero to 10 pm, in a sweaty nightclub. I really like the arrangement of this song because it has the feel of 1970s glam rock that meets the nuances of Adam Ant. I love what [drummer] Louise does on the tom-toms.”
Bloc Party tries to get its listeners on a ride on a noisy night, Kele Okereke sings “blood on the dance floor”, clubbers “takes it too far” and says “boys can’t cope” with the fights going on around them.
The song The Girls Are Fighting arrives with the official video set at the Repton Boxing Club, an old Victorian Bathhouse turned boxing club in Bethnal Green, London, where the famous Kray twins train.
To open this sixth album, Bloc Party previously released the main single titled Traps which came out last November 2021. The single Traps is their first new music track after a five-year hiatus, and with that, they have shared details of the new album and UK/Europe tour.
Traps is the opening single for Alpha Games’ album, following on from the band’s fifth album, Hymns, which was released in 2016. The single is a frenetic affair that recalls the post-punk urgency of their 2005 debut, Silent Alarm. In a statement, vocalist Kele Okereke explained why they chose to lead with it.
“Ever since we wrote Traps, we knew it had to be the first thing people heard from this album; played it at soundcheck on our last tour before it was over and heard how it sounded in that big room and outside of that room,” he said.

Additionally, Bloc Party will feature the Alpha Games album as a follow-up to the 2016 album Hymns on the UK and European main tours in May and June 2022. A number of countries that will be visited by this Bloc Party tour include France, Belgium, Denmark, Scotland, and England.
Bloc Party is an English rock band consisting of Kele Okereke (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, sampler), Russell Lissack (lead guitar, keyboards), Justin Harris (bass guitar, keyboards, saxophone, backing vocals), and Louise Bartle (drums, percussion). ). Their music, although rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music.
The band was formed at the 1999 Reading Festival by Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack. They went through various names before settling on Bloc Party in 2003.
